About Dr. Anndretta:

Dr. Anndretta Lyle is a tenured professor of Ethnic Studies teaching Black Studies and Community Engagement at California State University East Bay. She has developed a youth-centered Black Studies curriculum teaching civic engagement, strategies for community uplift, and tools for countering racial oppression at any age. For her “Chocolate Cities” module, students collaborate to build a model city, create and vote for candidates, and play a “circulate the dollar” game to learn the stakes of supporting Black businesses and increasing financial literacy.
